What the Whole Foods-Monsanto connection really means

by Jon Rappoport February 26, 2014 www.nomorefakenews.com Yesterday, I wrote and posted an article, “Top shareholders in Whole Foods and Monsanto: identical.” I laid out the five investment funds that hold huge numbers of shares of both companies. http://jonrappoport.wordpress.com/2014/02/25/top-shareholders-in-whole-foods-and-monsanto-identical/ This means very little to Monsanto. But to Whole Foods—that’s a very different story. Suppose, for example, Whole Foods executives suddenly decided the best and most ethical approach to GMO crops is to ban them altogether. Not label them. (I know, it’s a fantasy, but just suppose.) And suppose Whole Foods led such a movement. Now, the investment funds that own all that Whole Foods stock could decide Whole Foods was going too far, and needed to be taught a lesson. The lesson could come in the form of unloading WF shares and sending the company’s stock price plummeting. The message would be: “Look, if you want to label GMOs, it won’t make Monsanto and Dow and the other ag-bio-tech giants very happy, but they can handle the fallout from...

Top shareholders in Whole Foods and Monsanto: identical

By Jon Rappoport February 25, 2014 Is there a Whole Foods-Monsanto connection? The answer is yes. But the important question is: what does this connection mean? What does it imply? Is it significant? If you consult open listings (for example, investors.morningstar.com), you can look at the major shareholders of these two publicly traded companies, Monsanto and Whole Foods. If you read the top 10 shareholders for each company—the holders of the most stock—you’ll see that five out of those ten are the same. Who are those five? Don’t prepare to see the names of individuals. The five are funds. Investment funds. They are, at the moment: Vanguard Total Stock Mkt. Index; SPDR S&P 500; Vanguard Institutional Index I; Vanguard 500 Index Inv; Harbor Capital Appreciation Instl. These funds buy stocks in many, many companies. These funds don’t say, “Well, we’ll buy Monsanto and Whole Foods stock and then exert massive direct control over Whole Foods and make it bow to Monsanto’s agenda.” No. That’s not how it works. These...

297 scientists and experts agree GMOs not proven safe

Press release, European Network of Scientists for Social and Environmental Responsibility, 10 Dec 2013 The number of scientists and experts who have signed a joint statement[1] saying that GM foods have not been proven safe and that existing research raises concerns has climbed to 297 since the statement was released on 21 October. Dr Angelika Hilbeck, chair of the European Network of Scientists for Social and Environmental Responsibility (ENSSER), which published the statement, said, “We’re surprised and pleased by the strong support for the statement. It seems to have tapped into a deep concern in the global scientific community that the name of science is being misused to make misleading claims about the safety of GM technology.” The statement indirectly challenges claims by EU chief science adviser Anne Glover that there is no evidence that GM foods are any riskier than non-GM foods.[2] Dr Rosa Binimelis Adell, board member of ENSSER, said, “It seems that Anne Glover chooses to listen to one side of the scientific community only –...

Are you increasing your cancer risk by taking folic acid? How a simple lab test may reveal the answer.

By: Dr. Buckley Folic acid is a synthetic variant of what is called vitamin B9.  In a successful effort to reduce neural tube defects in fetal development, processed foods have had folic acid added to them by law here in the US since 1998.  For this reason, folic acid is now considered to be one of the least common vitamins people may be overtly deficient in.  People often refer to folic acid and folate interchangeably, but they are in fact two distinct molecules.  Nature does not produce folic acid, and in actuality, your body doesn’t use folic acid to make your biochemical machinery function.   Nature produces the active folates, which are  naturally occurring in foods, mainly leafy green vegetables.  In order for folic acid to become a folate, and turn a number of important biochemical gears within your body, it must undero a multi-step biochemical process.  This is where problems may occur. When folic acid isn’t properly converted, or natural folate is lacking in the body, the following...

ADHD: Should your child take speed, or modify their diet?

By Dr. Buckley Study shows approximately 70% of children diagnosed with ADHD have food sensitivities, and dietary modification reduces ADHD symptoms by 50% in less than 3 months.  The American Psychiatric Association states in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) that 5% of children have ADHD, and the CDC estimates the following figures: Approximately 11% of children 4-17 years of age (6.4 million) have been diagnosed with ADHD as of 2011. The percentage of children with an ADHD diagnosis continues to increase, from 7.8% in 2003 to 9.5% in 2007 and to 11.0% in 2011. Rates of ADHD diagnosis increased an average of 3% per year from 1997 to 2006  and an average of approximately 5% per year from 2003 to 2011. Boys (13.2%) were more likely than girls (5.6%) to have ever been diagnosed with ADHD. The average age of ADHD diagnosis was 7 years of age, but children reported by their parents as having more severe ADHD were diagnosed earlier. Prevalence of ADHD diagnosis...

Mineral taste testing and the ability to safely detoxify toxic metals.

By Dr. Buckley Outside of having adequate amounts of clean air, water, protein, and fat for your basic survival, minerals are important to you living a healthy and high functional life.  Minerals actually help your body build its structure, and are co-enzymes, which means that they help enable the activity of an enzyme to work properly.  You’ve probably heard of the neurotransmitter serotonin.  In order for your body to make serotonin, it requires a gene to make an enzyme which helps your body convert a substance called 5-HTP into serotonin.  However, the ability to complete this conversion process requires the co-enzyme minerals, zinc, and magnesium in order to do this efficiently.  If you lack those minerals, this process will be impaired, and you may end up manifesting serotonin deficiencies (depression, carbohydrate craving, etc). I haven’t found one person yet who wasn’t significantly deficient in minerals.  The good news is that I’ve found a good test that you can use at home to help you stay on top of your...

Truth about the Seralini rat-tumor-GMO study explodes.

by Jon Rappoport Remember a researcher named Gilles-Eric Seralini, his 2012 GMO study, and the controversy that swirled around it? He fed rats GMOs, in the form of Monsanto’s Roundup Ready corn, and they developed tumors. Some died. The study was published in the journal, Food and Chemical Toxicology (wikipedia). Pictures of the rats were published. A wave of biotech-industry criticism ensued. Pressure built. “Experts” said the study was grossly unscientific, its methods were unprofessional, and Seralini was biased against GMOs from the get-go. Monsanto didn’t like Seralini at all. The journal which published the Seralini study caved in and retracted it. Why? Not because Seralini did anything unethical, not because he plagiarized material, not because he was dishonest in any way, but because: He used rats which (supposedly) had an inherent tendency to develop tumors (the Sprague-Dawley strain), and because he used too few rats (10). That’s it. Those were Seralini’s errors. Well, guess what? Eight years prior to Seralini, Monsanto also did a rat-tumor-GMO study and published...

Neuromodulation Technique demonstrated as an effective treatment for autism, new study says.

We are pleased to announce that the study on autism conducted by Dr. Robert Weiner, PhD – “Intention-Based Therapy for Autism Spectrum Disorder: Promising Results of a Wait-List Control Study in Children”, has finally been published. The paper was featured in the January 2014 issue of Explore: The Journal of Science and Healing. Download full study here Abstract Background Autism is a complex neurodevelopmental disability that usually manifests during the first three years of life and typically lasts throughout a person’s lifetime. The purpose of this study is to investigate the efficacy of NeuroModulation Technique (NMT), a form of intention-based therapy, in improving functioning in children diagnosed with autism. Methods A total of 18 children who met the study criteria were selected to participate. All children completed baseline measures. The children in the experimental group (n = 9) received two sessions a week of NMT for six weeks. Then, children in the wait-list control group (n = 9) received two sessions a week of NMT for six weeks. Primary...

Genetics, genetic testing, toxicity, and thriving in a toxic world.

Newsletter Published:  January 13, 2014 Happy New Year! It’s been a while since I’ve written a newsletter, and there have been some interesting changes both in the practice, and certainly in the world.  I am proud to say that these changes I have implemented are at the cutting edge of wellness and preventative health care. Below I will discuss how the autistic community has provided the inquisitive and determined health care providers with an understanding to the nature of chronic dis-ease, not just autism.  There is a link between our genetic profile and our ability to detoxify to many dis-eases.  The good news is that our understanding of custom tailored nutrition, via gene mapping and functional testing, can go a long way to reverse and inevitably prevent many health problems from occurring. We’re on the cusp of a monumental change in healthcare that offers us great tools for avoiding many of the problems we have seen many friends and family members succumb to.  If we wish to avoid those...
