If you were to do research into alternative therapies that appear to be providing clear results to the autistic community, you’d be hard pressed to find anything as impressive as the results that people are finding in using a protocol that Kerri Rivera has put together. Kerri Rivera is the author of “Healing the Symptoms Known As Autism”, and the mother of an autistic son. A core component to her protocol, which has reportedly documented over 160 outright cures of autism in the last 3 years, is an extensive protocol for dealing with parasites. I encourage anybody interested in autism to read her book and take note of the results she has documented.
In a previous blog post, I discussed the problem that parasites represent to those of us dealing with the conventional health model. When you realize that the established gold standard triple stool sample test for parasitic diagnostics fails to identify parasites better than 60% of the time, even when the parasites are known to be in the intestines, you can begin to see what a problem this creates for properly addressing the health of people dealing with a chronic health complaint(1). This means that at least 40% of the people dealing with a parasitic infection will not be properly treated, but will almost certainly be given SOME diagnosis and SOME treatment for their health complaint that will almost certainly be completely off the mark. Keep in mind that many parasitic infections don’t spend much time in the intestines to be identified, and that blood tests for parasitic diagnosis are also very poor.
How does Monsanto play into this?
If you’re looking into the problem of parasites, it makes sense to look at how our bodies defend themselves to parasitic infections, and therefore it is logical to examine possible disruptions to how well somebody may be able to make the heme based enzyme’s called “Eosinophil Peroxidase” and “Myeloperoxidase” which are known to play key roles in the defense of parasitic as well as other infections.(2)(3)(4)(5)(6)(7)
Common factors of consideration within Autism:
1) Altered Gut Ecology (8)
2) Increased intestinal permeability.(9)(10)
3) Food sensitivities.(11)
4) Altered organic acid profiles.(12)
5) Microglial activation.(13)(14)(15)
6) Impaired free radical suppression.(16)(17)
7) Impaired methylation (18)
8) Low myeloperoxidase (R)
How do these factors relate to Monsanto’s RoundUp?
Research has clearly emerged that the patented antibiotic glyphosate, which is one of the key ingredients within Monsanto’s patented herbicide RoundUp, is being found on conventionally raised corn, wheat, soy, canola, sugar beets, and cane sugar(19), not to mention in the animals which feed on those dietary staples. RoundUp is clearly capable of altering gut microbial ecology, and not in a good way.(20)(21)(22) Unfortunately, even organic food is being found to be tainted with RoundUp contamination.(23)
We know that a dominance of pathogenic bacterial overgrowth, which may be RoundUp driven, can fuel disruptions within the gut lining, and we also know that pathogenic bacterial overgrowth can fuel food allergies, altered organic acid profiles, microglial activation (inflammation in the brain), and increase free radical production, which are all common findings within autism.(24)(25)(26)
RoundUp and the consequences of heme synthesis impairment.
Research has shown that the iron carrying heme molecule which gives hemoglobin its name, may be disrupted by glyphosate, the major herbicide ingredient found in RoundUp. Heme is a component to a number of important chemical compounds within our bodies besides hemoglobin. The following are all heme based molecules:
Hemoglobin- essential for oxygen transport through the body
Thyroid Peroxidase – critical for thyroid hormone synthesis
Catalase – critical for controlling oxidative stress
Cytochrome P450 enzymes – critical for phase 1 detoxification within the cells and steroidogenesis.
Cytochrome C – a major component within the mitochondria
Myeloperoxidase – critical for immune resistance to various pathogens, and controlling oxidative stress
Eosinophil Peroxidase – critical for immune resistance to parasites
While heme is believed to be synthesized in every cell of the body, it’s primary location of synthesis is the liver and the bone marrow. Interestingly, a prime location for where glyphosate is known to accumulate within the body is the bone marrow. Due to the similarity in molecular structure between glyphosate and the amino acid glycine (glyphosate is a glycine analogue), a molecule required as a substrate for the production of heme, it is very plausible that glyphosate may be directly impairing heme synthesis, and therefore creating a cascade of problems that results from suboptimal levels of heme (27)(28)(29). Indeed, porphyrins, which are molecular components of heme and heme synthesis have been found to be valuable markers in the biochemical picture of autism. Elevations of certain porphyrins can indicate impairment of heme synthesis and has been found within the autistic population(30). While a number of other factors, including mercury, arsenic, and lead toxicity are known to impair heme, further investigation for RoundUp’s potential role in heme synthesis impairment is clearly warranted given the reasons I have detailed here. This may therefore help to explain much of what the alternative health community has been finding in relation to the propensity of parasites, chronic infections, toxicity, impaired methylation, and the other common findings observed within the autistic and chronic illness populations.
Getting tested for glyphosate toxicity.
The organization “Moms Across America” has negotiated prices down for urinary glyphosate testing. The test is now $110, provided you agree to share your results with the organization. The more people dealing with a health problem who take part in this testing the better.
Their research is clearly finding proof of glyphosate accumulation in the population, which should alarm everyone considering the broad effects this poison has on both plants and animal life. It’s this kind of documentation that can help stop Monsanto’s poisoning of the planet.
